Miguel Luis “Migz” Villafuerte has proven that age is just a number by becoming the youngest governor in the Philippines. In his first term alone, Migz received numerous awards including the Superbrand Philippines Outstanding Governorship Award 2015.
“I don’t see things in terms of age. The province elected me and trusted me for a reason. – Migz Villafuerte”
Governor Miguel “Migz” Luis R. Villafuerte is the eldest son of Lara and Congressman LRay Villafuerte. He was born on January 21, 1988 to a family of government leaders from Camarines Sur.
Migz was a product of De La Salle Zobel and International School Manila. He graduated college with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of San Diego.
Growing up, Migz saw his father, then Governor LRay, lead the province to progress for nine years. During this time, young Migz is slowly developing the same passion towards public service. In 2013, he was elected to office, making him the youngest governor in Philippine history at the age of 24. In three-year time, Migz showed that leadership knows no age as he stepped up to be one of the most beloved governors of Camarines Sur. His effective leadership became evident when the province chose to once again elect him as governor for the second time in 2016.
Migz Villafuerte is the most hands on governor CamSur has ever seen. He personally oversees medical missions, free haircut programs, livelihood training, and other projects.
Despite being young, Migz was already awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance 2014, given by the Department of Interior and Local Government as well as the Superbrand Philippines Outstanding Governorship Award 2015.
